Vegetarian Christmas by Rose Elliot

I love Rose Elliot recipe books and this is a great addition to your book collection to help you produce great vegetarian Christmas meals. I love the front cover as it makes Christmas pudding (something I'm not fond of) look so yummy!!

It has helpful tips of things you can do before Christmas, so that you aren't stressed out on the day. Meals plans for the perfect Christmas Day feast and also party food ideas for other occasions when you may have people around like Boxing Day and New Years Eve.

Although I don't do that much cooking around Christmas as I go to various family and friends for the day. It does have useful recipes for all year around and it is waiting to be used when I get to be the Christmas host!

I sent off for this offer and this is my recipe book:

I HEART Vegan Lunch Box

I got the Vegan Lunch Box book a few Christmas's ago along with the lunchbox that she uses for the lunches she makes. I for some reason, I didn't read it at the time, despite the fact that I am a big Vegan Lunch Box fan. It has been at my Mum's house for a while and I eventually, this weekend, I bought it up to my flat and started reading it.
I really am enjoying it and there's loads of fab ideas for lunch. I get very bored with sandwiches so I want to take some creative lunches to uni next year. I just been a food flask to go with my lunch box!

New Magazine: Vegetarian Living

Went into WHSmith to have a look for some books and saw that this brand new magazine is on the market! I have read vegetarian cooking magazines before but this launch issue claims to be a vegetarian lifestyle magazine.
I really did enjoy this magazine and things like the interview with Sadie Frost and Riverford were really interesting and made it more of a lifestyle magazine than just a food or cooking magazine. The article on Riverford actually lead me to trying out getting a veg box! They also had fantastic competitions, I love the opportunity to win something! Definitely a good magazine which I will continue reading in the future!

My Recipe Book

I thought I would share my recipe book with you! I am an enthusiastic cook and like to record and save the recipes I come up with, find in magazines and online. My recipe file is from one of my most of favourite shops Paperchase! Mine's a few years old, but you can get recipe files from there in all different styles.

The Gate: Easy Vegetarian Cookbook

I was bought this as a present for one of my birthdays and I fell in love with it straight away. The recipes are so simple and quick, but they produce amazing delicious food which has impressed many guests I have cooked for and even the most committed meat-eaters.
My favourite recipe is Tagliatelle with Mushrooms, Spinach and Dolcelatte Cream. It sounds complicated but only takes as long to make as it takes to boil the pasta and is so comforting and filling, especially on a cold night after a hard day at work.

I would honestly recommend anyone who hasn't got these books to buy them, they will be a worthwhile investment that you will never put down! I'm hoping for the original Gate Vegetarian Cookbook for even more restaurant standard recipes to have a go at.

Don't Buy New Books... Book Swap!

Although owning brand new books to read is fantastic, it is not environmentally friendly or cost effective (you read it and it sits on a shelf collecting dust for years). However, book swapping is a fantastic solution!

The one I have been taking part in gives the following instructions on an A4 piece on paper. Attached to the left hand corner is a piece of scrap paper with two address on numbered 1 and 2 (if you're just starting this then put a friend as number 1 and yourself as number 2) and then hand out copies of the instructions with the addresses to your other friends!

WELCOME TO THE PAPERBACK BOOK SWAP

This is just for fun!

Please send a used paperback to the first person on the list (number 1).
Books can easily be sent in an envelope.

Then re-do the list:
  • Remove the name under number 1
  • Move the name currently at number 2 to the number 1 position
  • Write your own name and address under number 2
There should only be 2 names on the list at all times!

Send a copy of the new list and the instructions to 6 of your friends who enjoy reading.

You could recieve back up to 36 books. It will be fun to see where they come from and what types of books you are introduced to.

Please now send your book onto number 1.

HAPPY READING!

If anybody is interested in taking part, but isn't quite clear from the intructions then do not hesistate to comment and I can clear up any misunderstandings.

Alternatively, why not swap books with friends and family to get as much use as possible out of them!
