Asia Gourmet, York

Asia Gourmet, on Gillygate in York isn't strictly a vegetarian restaurant, however it has a lot of vegetarian options and does a lot of Japanese food, which is one of my favourite types of food. After reading a review in the student paper which recommended it and told us not to be put off by the decor, I decided that I would give it a go! I took the advice of the student paper and decided to get takeaway instead of sit in. As it was a lovely summers day, we popped into Sainsbury's and bought some drinks and then headed over to York Minster to sit in it's gardens with our lovely picnic!

The Egg and Salmon sushi at the back, along with the California Hand Roll were my dining partners choices. He said they were lovely, the Hand Roll being particularly delicious.

But onto the vegetarian options! They do such tasty vegetarian sushi, I sampled the Cucumber Maki Rolls and Sweet Tofu Nigiri, which were box excellent! We also had Vegetable Tempura, which had a lovely light batter and tasty soy dipping sauce, Vegetable Gyoza, which compliment the meal well and Miso Soup to top it off. There was nothing we could complain about really and we would recommend Asia Gourmet, especially for a beautiful York picnic!
